The accountants at McLaren and Associates are tax strategists; not just tax preparers and they work much differently than an ordinary tax preparer. Your experience with us will be completely different than with your prior accountant(s). Our different process makes us extraordinary at what we do. An ordinary tax preparer will typically spend around 2 to 3 hours preparing your tax returns. However, at McLaren we typically spend an average of over 30 hours per client. We do this in order to analyze your various accounts, ask you many more questions than you are likely used to, and run different scenarios to find the absolute best scenario that will save you the most in tax dollars without generating red flags.

On average our business clients spend $5,600 with us a year. Some spend much more depending upon the scope of work required. Without some initial work, it is extremely difficult for us to give you a quote and that is why we never quote for our services. While there are many reasons that your work could be more expensive, we promise that we will never do work that does not provide you with a tax savings well in excess of the amount of your bill.

Generally, we can finish an engagement within 4 to 6 weeks from receiving all of the tax planning items that we have requested.

You can proactively reduce the cost of your bills by providing us with all items needed to prepare your tax return as soon as possible. These items include records, reconciled bank statements, reconciled credit card statements, all fixed assets purchased that tax year (with cost and documentation), your company’s W-2’s and 1099’s, documentation on new loans, business and total mileages for the year, business expenses paid personally, health insurance expenses, and, if applicable, home office information. By providing this information in a timely, organized manner, you will reduce your bill by reducing our need to follow up with you to retrieve those items. Believe it or not, this can save you hundreds of dollars on your bill.

We are well versed in the most up-to-date tax laws so that we can make them work to your advantage. Instead of just working off of the information you give us, we ask you questions specific to your profession or business to get the most out of your deductions and save you money.

Clients are billed in 15-minute increments. The exact cost is dependent on the preparer(s) involved. Each employee has a different rate which is based on their experience level.

We offer a free, 30-minute consultation to new and potential clients to see if McLaren & Associates is the right fit for them based on their expectations and work to be completed.

At McLaren & Associates, we work as a team to collaborate on your accounting needs. There is a primary preparer that is assigned based on the complexity of work the client is requesting. This primary preparer will be the client contact for any questions or information exchanges. It is very common for client bills to contain time from multiple accountants.
